If you’re worried about the possibility of balding then it is very important to keep watch for the early signs of balding. For men in particular, male pattern baldness is a serious risk, however with modern advancements in hair growth science it can now be treated in most cases. However once your baldness has advanced beyond a certain point it may well be too late.

Even the very best hair loss treatments, other than surgical treatments which can be painful and very expensive, cannot grow hair on a bald head. If you see some of the early signs of balding it is particularly important to get help quickly.

Male pattern baldness is an inherited condition. So one of the first things to look at is your parents and grandparents. If, for example, your father and grandfather, or either of them, were bald then there is a much higher possibility that you too will suffer from male pattern baldness, or what is known as androgenetic alopecia. However you should also be aware that this is not a guarantee of baldness and that many men do not lose their hair despite the fact that their father or grandfather was bald.

You should also be aware that it is perfectly normal for everyone to lose some hair each day. Do not be concerned if you see some hair in your hairbrush, for example, it is quite normal that some hair is lost and this hair is usually fully replaced. Hair only lives for a certain amount of time, around 5 years. Once hair has reached a certain point will die and fall out and will normally be replaced. It is only where the rate of hair loss exceeds the rate of replacement that you will start to experience thinning hair.

Now let’s look at the early signs of baldness. These signs vary from man to man. It is most common for male pattern baldness to start to become visible at the hair at the top of the forehead. The hair at the front of the forehead starts to form an M shape and the hair that remains may start to look thinner and less healthy.

It is also possible that at the same time thinning of their hair starts to occur on the crown of the head. It is also possible that this thinning of the crown may occur without any receding of the hairline at the front.

Early Signs Of Balding

There are a range of reasons why this thinning of their hair may be occurring, although the most common is male pattern baldness.

There are also some medical conditions which can cause hair loss and for this reason it is well worth consulting a doctor to eliminate the possibility of any serious medical conditions. However it is more likely that the reason your hair is starting to thin and recede is androgenetic alopecia, or the fact that you have inherited male pattern baldness from your forebears, like a large percentage of the male population.

In the past, whilst the early symptoms of baldness were well-known the actual mechanism by which the inherited genetic condition manifested the hair loss was not understood. So although science understood that baldness ran in families they were unable to produce a cure for male pattern baldness until they understood the cause.

Once science uncovered the cause of androgenetic alopecia it was then able to produce a cure. The cause is the male sex hormone DHT and if you’re interested in finding out more about how this causes male pattern baldness read our article about DHT and DHT Blockers.

Science has now produced an effective way to reverse the effects of male pattern baldness as long as it is detected early, which is why you should keep watching for the early signs of balding.

Minoxidil is one of 2 treatments approved by the FDA as a hair loss treatment that is effective for men to use. Minoxidil goes under a range of different trade names, however using a product with minoxidil alone is not sufficient approach to tackle the problem and get optimum results.

DHT strangles the ability of the hair follicle to attract and absorb proper hair nutrients.

The best hair restoration treatment combines the use minoxidil with a range of oral supplements providing all of the important nutrients essential for hair growth and hair health.

As we said, you cannot grow hair on a bald head. So if you think you’re at risk of male pattern baldness, particularly because some of the men in your family are already experiencing it, you must keep watch for the early signs of balding and, when they appear, if they appear, you ought jump on the problem immediately.

The sooner the better.

Do you believe in the healing power of herbs, and are you also suffering from hair loss? Herbs are a big part of the most successful hair loss treatment available. Our job today is to explain how natural herbs for hair loss can be a part of an effective hair loss treatment.

First let’s examine the reasons for hair loss, or at least the most common reason for hair loss. It is directly related to a reduction of essential nutrients in the hair follicle.

Over 90 percent of hair loss suffered by men under 50 is caused by the inherited condition male pattern baldness, known scientifically as androgenetic alopecia. This is an inherited condition and you have no control over whether or not you have the genes that will lead to male pattern baldness, or for that matter female pattern baldness which is less common.

For many years it was fully understood that male pattern baldness was an inherited condition however the actual mechanism that produced the hair thinning was never understood. It was only within the last few years that science began to find out the reasons why male pattern baldness was genetic and exactly what the mechanism was that produced the thinning of their hair to the point where, for many men, the result was partial or almost complete baldness.

The breakthrough came with the discovery of the role of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) in the genetic condition. Once the actual mechanism that lead to the death of hair follicles was understood it is then possible to produce an effective hair loss treatment.

This is how it works. Men, of course, have the male hormone testosterone, in greater quantities during puberty. The body converts testosterone into another hormone called DHT. This is done as a result of the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. Men who are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness often exhibit higher conversion of testosterone to DHT.

DHT will gather around the base of hair follicle and strangle the follicle. This occurs because the DHT blocks the ability of the hair follicle to absorb essential hair nutrients. As the follicle is unable to absorb sufficient nutrients the hair can thin, or shrivel and die and is not replaced in sufficient quantities. Gradually over time the hair thins and a bald patch develops.

There are 2 problems here. The first problem is the role of DHT in strangling the ability of the hair follicle to absorb sufficient nutrients. The 2nd problem is the availability of the nutrients to the hair follicle even where the role of DHT can be blocked.

The first and most successful product approved by the FDA for use is a hair loss treatment was minoxidil. Minoxidil works by increasing the blood supply to the scalp and hair follicles, and thereby allowing the hair to take in more nutrients. But using minoxidil on it’s own isn’t the best way.

Using minoxidil is the first stage of this two stage strategy. The second is the use of a range of herbs to supply the essential nutrients that hair needs. The best hair loss treatment combines both these strategies in a single product.
Hair Loss Herbs

In conjunction with minoxidil this product supplies the entire range of essential nutrients supplied the use of herbs, natural plant substances and minerals. For example one of the most important ingredients in these products is saw palmetto. This is a slow-growing palm that is found in the South of the US. Studies have shown that the fruits of the saw palmetto can suppress DHT levels by inhibiting the action of the enzyme 5 alpha reductase. Whilst saw palmetto on its own is insufficient to produce a sufficient result, when used in conjunction with the other ingredients it works very well.

The oil that is extracted from pumpkin seeds has also been shown to reduce the activity of testosterone and is included. Siberian ginseng is also included as an ingredient in these products. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years and helps the body cope with stress.

These herbal products together with vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B6, magnesium and zinc and a range of other natural plant ingredients are all used as nutritional supplements so that as the actions of the DHT are suppressed these ingredients can supply a wide range of nutrients essential to optimum hair follicle health.

The product which works the best as a complete solution to male pattern baldness is called Provillus. Provillus combines the use of minoxidil with the healing and nutritional power of herbs to offer a product unrivaled as a hair loss treatment.
