If you’re a man hair loss can be a serious worry. A large percentage of the male population experience male hair loss. However thinning hair is not restricted to men. Pattern baldness is much more common in men and women but not restricted to men. But if you’re a man hair loss is much more likely.

Everyone loses hair. The average scalp loses many hairs every day and this is not a problem. Hair is not live forever. The average hair lives for around 5 years and at the end of its life will die and fall out. Normally is replaced by a new hair and there is no reduction in overall hair.

However if you’re a man, hair loss from male pattern baldness means that more hairs fall out than are replaced and gradually your hair, usually on the top of your scalp, starts to thin. Over a period of years it gets thinner until a bald spot develops which will get larger until for many men there is just a ring of hair left around the edges of the scalp.

If this has happened to you then you have male pattern baldness, an inherited condition. Between the ages of 20 to 45 men who are suffering from male hair loss and 95 percent likely to have male pattern baldness.

The some men can start early, even in the teenage years, and to some it can start late and progress very slowly. The progression of male pattern baldness varies enormously from one man to another.

Male pattern baldness, or what is scientifically known as androgenetic alopecia, is the most common reason the loss of hair in a man. Hair loss causes in men are not restricted to male pattern baldness however this is by far the most common cause.

In the past androgenetic alopecia was not well understood. It was known that it was an inherited condition because it was quite clear over the generations that baldness ran in the family. Therefore once genetics were understood it was clear that male pattern baldness was a genetic condition.

However even though it was known to be a genetic condition the reasons for the loss of hair and subsequent baldness were not really understood. For many years scientists tried to understand what it was about inherited genes that caused male hairloss, and tried to find a way to stop male hair loss.

The answer has been discovered relatively recently. It is now known that the cause of male and female pattern hair loss is a hormone called DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). The way it works is this. In the body testosterone is converted to DHT by the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. This DHT adversely affects the health and longevity of hair follicles. The DHT works on the hair follicle by means of hormone receptors in the follicle and effectively blocks much of the essential nutrients that hair needs to be healthy.

Result of this is that your hair follicles become weaker, the hair becomes thinner and it does not reproduce as successfully. As a result hair gradually reduces in volume and becomes noticeably thinner until the bald spot develops.

Fortunately for us this is now well studied and well proven. It is now common knowledge that pattern baldness is caused by the actions of DHT and that those who are genetically disposed to pattern baldness have greater levels of DHT attached to their hair follicles on their head.

Once the cause of hair loss was fully understood it was possible to develop successful hair loss treatments. However it’s important to say that if you’re a man, hair loss treatments will not work for you if it is too late. It’s too late when the hair on your head is gone. If you’re suffering from thinning of the hair right now then right now is when you need to tackle the problem.

The first product which has been accepted by the FDA is a hair loss treatment is called minoxidil. Minoxidil has been proven effective in most cases of male pattern baldness that are not too advanced and it works by increasing the blood flow to the hair follicles so that they can take in more nutrients. It was originally developed for a role in treating high blood pressure but it was found that a side effect was that it grew more hair.
Man Hair Loss

Minoxidil is available under various names. The very best minoxidil treatment is available under the name of Provillus. Provillus has shown itself to be an excellent baldness treatment for the following reasons:

We mentioned the fact that DHT restricts the flow of nutrients to the hair follicle. If the effects of DHT are blocked the hair follicle can return to good health only where the essential nutrients for hair growth are all available. A supply of Provillus provides not only the essential hair nutrients but also includes natural ingredients like Saw Palmetto that help block the effects of the DHT.

As you can see, now that the cause of pattern baldness is now understood, there are effective treatments. Minoxidil on its own will only go so far because their hair still needs adequate supplies of essential nutrients. Provillus supplies these as well, and also products to help block the DHT.

But remember what we said. If you’re a man hair loss will become permanent after a certain point. Even Provillus cannot grow hair on a bald head. If you’re finding that your hair is thinning now is the time to act by getting 2 months free supply of Provillus and try it for yourself. Read the rest of this entry

If you’re looking to combat thinning hair then you need to know about DHT blockers. But firstly lets ask the question what is DHT and what does it have to do with hair loss?

DHT, (or what is known as Dihydrotestosterone by its scientific name), is a substance formed from the male hormone testosterone. It is formed in the prostate, in the adrenal glands and in particular in hair follicles. It is what is known as an androgen.

An androgen is a compound that controls the development of masculine characteristics in men. The most well known androgen is testosterone itself.

DHT has become well known since its initial discovery because it is now known to be a primary cause of male pattern baldness, (and also prostate problems). DHT is one of the most important factors in the development of a range of male characteristics including the development of facial hair. It is very important in hair health generally.

DHT is now known to be the most significant factor in the development of male pattern baldness or what is technically known as androgenetic alopecia.

Male pattern baldness is an inherited condition. It is a condition which results in increased production of DHT and it is the increase in DHT that leads to the hair loss. For this reason if it is possible to find a natural DHT blocker that blocks the effects of DHT this will work to reduce hair loss associated with male pattern baldness.

It is estimated that DHT is responsible for up to 95 percent of hair loss.

One of the most important factors in maintaining healthy hair is hair nutrition. Just like many other parts of our body to be fully healthy hair needs to get a wide range of nutrients. In effect DHT strangles a hair follicle and dramatically reduces the ability of the follicle to ingest the right nutrients.

As a result the hair follicles reproduce more slowly, are less healthy and the hair strand itself starts to thin out. The DHT has accumulated in the hair follicle and hair roots to strangle the hair itself.

There is a range of DHT blockers available on the market which work to block the effects of DHT on their hair follicles. But blocking the action of DHT is only a part of the equation. That allows the hair to take in more nutrients, but it can’t if they are not available. One product, the first product approved by the FDA for use as a hair restoration treatment is minoxidil. This is a product that allows more blood to circulate around the hair follicles and this allows them to take in much more nutrients.
DHT Blockers

There are many products that rely on the use of minoxidil alone. This only tackles a part of the problem. As we previously mentioned hair has a range of requirements for nutrients that help hair grow, reproduce and stay healthy. The best hair restoration product uses minoxidil together with a range of essential hair nutrients that provide hair the nutrition it needs, together with natural products such as Saw Palmetto that have a role in blocking the DHT.

It’s no good allowing the hair to absorb more nutrients unless the nutrients are all available to the hair.

The very best hair loss treatment using minoxidil as an active ingredient is Provillus. Provillus uses 5 percent minoxidil together with a wide range of natural vitamins, proteins and minerals all important for optimum hair health, and which have a role in blocking the actions of the DHT. Provillus is the only product to combine the effects of minoxidil with optimum hair nutrition.

Hopefully we have explained to you the role of DHT in hair loss. If you’re suffering from pattern baldness there are now very effective hair loss treatments available to you provided your hair loss has not gone too far. Although Provillus is by far the best hair loss treatment it cannot grow hair on a bald head.

So if you’re suffering from thinning hair you need to get onto the problem fast. Waiting only exacerbates the problem. Read the rest of this entry
